After receiving the Spirit of God (the Holy Ghost) only our spirit is regenerated, after which begins our spiritual growth. This is a process that begins with the way we think, “For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he “(Prov 23:7).“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature, old things are passed away, behold all things are become new” (2Cor 5:17).With the Spirit of God dwelling in you, all things are to become new, which includes the way we think and perceive things.“And be not conformed to this world, but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove (know) what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God” (Rom 12:2).Unfortunately, many just redirect and/or adopt a righteous or “holy” attitude but it is of a fleshly origin and although it may look good, it is impossible for them to know that good, acceptable, and perfect will of God.That is why it is necessary that you “be renewed in the Spirit of your mind” (Eph 4:23).“That ye put off concerning the former conversation (lifestyle), the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lust” (Eph 4:22), “and that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and trueholiness” (Eph 4:24).Your mind is renewed by, not only by the reading of the Word, but by studying it with the heart of seeing yourself in them as if Christ Himself is talking directly to you. Then, and only then will the Word begin washing you of your old ways, as being in the body of Christ (the Church) “that He might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the Word” (Eph 5:26).This process of renewing your mind will help make you sensitive to the voice of God, increase your spiritual discernment, and most of all bring you closer to Christ.
