Harden not Your Heart

Many times in the world people criticize and offend and we tune them out because we deny what was said as being true or we consider the source.  However, with God it is different.  The Lord wants to be as close to you as He was with Adam, but He can’t, with you being in a rebellious state, even though you’re saved.  In preparation for making you a holy vessel unto Him, he has to purge the unholy attitudes, the hidden pride, the selfishness, your own elevated thoughts of yourself, etc. out of you to show the real you to you.  This has to be done slowly, a little at a time, for if too much of you is shown to you, it will be rejected (primarily because of pride).  When the Lord shows you a little of your heart, generally it’s addressed in three different ways: denial (from pride), attack on the messenger, or acknowledgement.  The first two deal with rebelliousness which is what got Lucifer expelled from heaven (because of pride), the third one, acknowledgement, humbles “…God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.  Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time” (1Pet 5:5, 6).  The Word of God is sharp and it cuts, but it also brings life so …”Today if ye will hear His voice, Harden not your hearts” (Heb 4:7).  Many of us feel we know ourselves very well and nobody can tell us about ourselves unless we approve of them or agree with what is said.  That is not the case  when it comes to God and HisWord.  For it is written, “Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in His sight but all things are naked and  open unto the eyes of Him with whom we have to do” (Heb 4:13).  Even though we look at ourselves as being objective and honest as we can be, we’re still looking at our hearts from the outside and not from the inside which is from the spirit, so we’re still looking as man sees himself, but “the Lord seeth not as man seeth, for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart “ (1Sam 16:7).  You may receive natural knowledge but you are in no condition to receive spiritual knowledge (revelation knowledge).  The revealing of yourself to you may come from a number of different sources, but irrespective of the source, you know in your heart that it’s you and at that point you are consciously aware of it and you must acknowledge it, go to God with a repentive heart, realizing that your heart hasn’t been right and thanking Him for His mercy and His long-suffering toward you (for you now know the Lord is drawing you closer to Him).  It is imperative that when you hear His word harden not your heart for if you continue to do so your heart will become callous and soon there won’t be any voice to hear.  (See: The Cross – our submission click to read! )
